I’m happy to announce the publication of Foxtales, the first volume of fiction and poetry from the Fox Valley Writers’ Group, to which I belong. I’ve contributed a story entitled “White Horse,” which is one of my usual goofy what-ifs. My friends and colleagues also have work in this diverse collection. It’s got a little something for everybody.
The price is right, too! Kindle and Nook editions are just $0.99 for a limited time, and we’ve got a paperback edition for $4.99 (and when you think about it, where can you get a brand-spankin’-new book for less than a ‘fin?)
So, what’s in the book? This is from the description; see if you can guess which story is mine:
Foxtales is a collection of short fiction and poetry from the members of the Fox Valley Writers Group. Topics: read about a truck driver’s exploits in a dystopian, corporate-controlled United States; a vampire has a serious case of the hiccups, Jesus and his Father discuss popular culture, relationship problems abound when buying a home, relive the sting of rejection and breakup, experience the horror of the Civil War, learn about a supernatural telephone and eavesdrop on a first date with a crazy man. There’s a lot in this little book – take a peek, you won’t be disappointed!
Enjoy this first of what we hope to be an annual foray into publishing. It was a lot of work, especially for our editors, but also a blast of an activity for any writers’ group. It gave us deadlines we couldn’t miss, taught us about editing and storytelling, and eventually got our names out there! Not a bad deal at all.
I’ll have more to say on the process of getting something like this together very soon. I enjoy sharing the behind the scenes info on the writing game, and I hope you’ll tune back in for it.
